I keep wondering the type of confused system we have in OAU, the management that attends parties, encouraged students to attend parties too but discouraged and threaten students not to attend intellectual programs and political symposiums that will better the education sector of the country and the welfare of the staffs too. The powerful and mind liberating political symposium organized by Alliance of Nigerian Student Against Neo liberal Attacks (ANSA) tagged ' Under funding of Education,it consequences,the role of student and staffs ; on hearing this topic you will agree that a reasonable school management is suppose to support the symposium powerfully and mobilize student for it but reverse is the case, the OAU management discouraged and threatened students not to attend the symposiums with the excuse that ANSA is not registered with the school DSA and that student must get permit from the DSA before student can organise.

It is stated in the Nigerian constitution that we have freedom to organize as citizens of Nigeria and no law supersedes the Nigerian constitution. I keep wondering how the OAU system is so confused to the extent that the Dean of student affairs attended the Slimcase party, not only that, he also encouraged students to attend the night party what a "beautiful" system in OAU.

Also the aspect of accommodation, you will also agree with me that it is only in a confused system that in the 8th week of lecture some rooms in the halls of residence remain unoccupied and in some rooms that are occupied, there are still empty bedspaces and majority of the students in town keep suffering and struggling to get bus in the morning and in the evening everyday to attend lectures, what a confused accommodation policy and system. We students keep asking why there are bedspaces unallocated and there are still students that need where to stay risking their lives everyday off campus but we've not gotten a reasonable answer to these questions. As a result, majority of students staying off-campus, social vices keep increasing on campus day by day, innocent students especially freshers are being expose to cultism,attacks,rapes etc as a result of oau students mixing, mingling and staying with cultist, thieves and the likes off campus.

The school authorities must understand that students will not stand by and stare while these high-handedness persist. We will rise and make our case known to the world through the press and continue to reject all anti-student policies which has reduced academic performance to an abysmal level.

In response to the allegations of the management that students who expose their decadence are tarnishing the image of the school, I say that it is the management who is, in reality, responsible for rubbishing the image of our great institution by inflicting deleterious welfare conditions on students thereby relegating the standard of the university nationally and globally. When students conditions worsen their academic performance follows the same trend and the VC and DSA have continued to subjugate students to debilitating conditions ever since the beginning of their administration.

Only the democratic organization of students can procure sanity and order to this system of Babylon. We must rally round our union and demand for a democratic congress of students to determine the fate of our union and hence our welfare and security.
