Since the wake of the 10th of July 1999 events, the OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY has been sanctified against cultism and all other forms of cult-like activities. The invasion of the Black Axe confraternity on OAU soil on this day and the gruesome murder of five OAU finest blood remains the sacrosanct reasons for us to forever wage war against the trend of cultism on our campus. Nineteen (19) years after the death of the then SECRETARY GENERAL of the students' union, GEORGE AKINYEMI IWILADE (AFRIKA) and four other students (TEMI AJITERU, EVIANO EKELEMU, BABATUNDE OKE and EFE EKEPEDE), the students' union has declared the university, a campus of zero-tolerance to cultism and all other forms of cult-like vices.

As we make the commemoration of this unforgettable event this year, we use this medium to sound a note of warning ⚠ to members of neofascist cult groups that OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY remains a NO-GO-AREA for cult violence. We are watching you and we'll find you!
Students are enjoined to shun cultism and should not hesitate to always raise alarm for any cult threat or behaviour with others for a collective discipline to be asserted against such in our traditional way. The fall of the union is directly proportional to the rise of cultism and a vibrant union is inversely proportional to the rise of cultism on on campus.
For this reason, the security of students on campus, in town and within the university environment remains a collective responsibility of all students. We must continue to defend and associate with the union for our protection.

It is important to note that the students' Union in 1999 led a struggle against astronomic hike to tuition fees which was increased drastically from 590 naira to over 10,590 naira by the PROFESSOR WALE OMOLE led university administration. The winning of the total reversal of the unjustifiable hiked fee by the students union was part of the reasons for the sponsored cult-attack of 1999 on the union leadership of which claimed the lives of AFRIKA and others as the management way of getting back at them.

THE BLOOD OF OAU5 HAS BEEN SACRIFICED FOR A LONG-LASTING SANITY AND SECURITY AGAINST CULTISM ON OAU CAMPUS.
